The company's goal is to add 10,000 bidirectional EV school buses across the U.S. with 300 gigawatt hours of energy available to power grids each year. In effect, instead of the one-way charge into the vehicle, the school buses will be able to send their battery power back to the grid through Zum charging infrastructure. The roughly 500,000 school buses are mostly diesel, contributing to emissions. Ram Ambatipudi, senior vice president of business development at EV Connect, which provides EV charging solutions, said the school bus model is one of the most promising in the area of using EV battery storage in a bidirectional nature. "The low-hanging fruit from what I've seen is the school bus model," Ambatipudi said.

Almost two years after a report warned that children were swallowing batteries at an alarming rate, Energizer is releasing a new battery designed to alert parents if their child has swallowed one. The new coin lithium battery features more secure packaging, a nontoxic bitter coating to discourage swallowing and “color alert technology” that activates a blue dye when the battery comes into contact with moisture, like saliva, so parents and caregivers know that medical attention could be required. The new battery was announced in a video last week by Energizer and Trista Hamsmith, whose 18-month-old daughter died after swallowing a button battery from a remote control. Ms. Hamsmith founded a nonprofit organization focused on children’s safety, successfully advocated for legislation, known as Reese’s Law, that requires a secure compartment of the batteries in products that use them as well as stronger warning labels on all packaging, and is now working to make the batteries themselves safer.

Tesla owners have told me for years that the Supercharger network was a huge selling point, and this trip proved that to be true. On the return trip, I simply plugged in a Supercharger along my route into the computer and headed down the road. The truck immediately began charging at warp speed compared to my other two tries, adding 140 miles of range every hour. I dropped off the truck with about 125 miles of range right next to a Supercharger. On my next road trip in an EV, I'll double-check my adapters — and not count on random ones to get the job done.

CNN —A children’s mini speaker is being recalled for potential burn and fire hazards. Parents are advised to remove the Yoto Mini from their children’s reach immediately, but recalled units do not need to be discarded. Those who own the speaker should contact Yoto to receive a free Yoto Mini Smart Cable, which can charge the speaker battery to a safe level, Yoto said in a statement. “Anyone who has a Yoto Mini can now register to receive one Yoto Mini Smart Cable per device through our dedicated website. Yoto also said it implemented an automatic software update across all Yoto Mini speakers to “improve battery management,” according to a company statement.
